Overview
The Apple Mighty Mouse promises a lot from it's name, and is the first mouse in Apple's 21 year history that not only gives the user one button, but combines four customizable buttons. Customizable, that is if you are a Mac user and have upgraded to the current Tiger OS 10.4. PC owners and Mac users of previous OS' are only given basic allowances of the buttons, making the Mighty Mouse much the same as every other mouse on the market.
Looks and Feel
So, with the price tags of $49 (wired) and $69 (bluetooth wireless), are the sleek looks and innovability enough to warrant purchasing one? Well, if you are one (and there are many) of consumers that allow looks to be as important as usability, then all the proof you need is in the photos. Like current apple products, the Mighty Mouse is beautifully designed, and easily compliments any Macbook, Macbook Pro or Mini. On the down side though, the styling of the mouse means that it favours neither left or right handed users. While this may interest households with multiple users, prolonged use with one hand has the possibility of making this mouse uncomfortable, and should be a serious consideration for a prospective buyer.
Although the 4 buttons appear to be well spaced out on paper, both the wired and the wireless versions of the Mighty Mouse are made out of a single piece of plastic, making the definition of buttons initially unnerving, but once in the hand each button is where you would expect it, and the feedback from each click is comfortably reassuring.
Summary
So if you are style concious, and have the applications to make the most of this Mighty Mouse, then Apple have created a must-have addition to your Laptop or Macbook, and is easily worth the price tag.
